Did you watch the Oscars this weekend? It’s the first year that I’ve actually seen more than one of the movies up for Best Picture — not actually that hard a feat, since there were nine nominated.
(For the record, I saw: “The Descendants,” “Moneyball,” and “The Help.”)
I’m not a huge movie buff, and I consider myself only a peripheral fashion snob. So I don’t get super excited about awards shows in general. I do like to watch, but the speeches tend to be the same.

Until this year. When I fell right back in love, head-over-heels, with Christopher Plummer. In case you missed his acceptance speech for Best Supporting Actor, it’s available on YouTube here. And it’s worth a watch.Although he’s disputing the claim that he is the oldest Oscar Winner, it’s pretty impressive that he’s had such an amazing career through the decades. He’ll always be Captain Von Trapp to me (yes, the hills are still alive with the Sound of Music) but he’s proof that when you love what you do, and you constantly try to improve yourself, you will be successful.
Did you watch? What did you think of this acceptance speech? Was another one your favorite?
