Today on the Growing Bolder TV Show Facebook page, I asked:
We’ve been talking a lot about the word REINVENTION around GB headquarters, because it seems to be a word that applies to so many parts of our lives. So we’d love to know — what does REINVENTION mean to you? How have you reinvented yourself?
And, if I may offer full disclosure…it’s because reinvention is something that means a lot in my personal and professional lives.
This week, my husband ends a job that he started about a year and a half ago. It’s a bittersweet end, because it marked the beginning of his “new” life — one in which he followed his passion and chose to do what he loved, despite the risks.
But it’s not bad news. When he applied for his current job, he had very little experience but a lot of ambition. His bosses recognized that and hired him on the spot (didn’t hurt that he aced a knowledge test!). They saw that despite his lack of training, he was willing to work hard, learn fast and hustle.
That is exactly what he did, and next week, he starts his new job — a move up in the industry, for a company with an amazing reputation.
He’s nervous. Excited. Itching to get started. Sad about leaving the place that gave him his start. Ready to learn new skills.
He reinvented himself the day he quit his original calling — architecture. He reinvented himself when he applied for his first new job. And he’ll be reinventing himself once more starting next week.
People like my husband inspire me, because they never settle for what makes them unhappy.
Who inspires you for the same reason?
