Happy Anniversary, Growing Bolder!

We’re pretty humble people here at Team GB (can you be humble while saying you’re humble?), and we truly would prefer to spend our time shining the spotlight on others rather than standing in it ourselves.

But we hope you’ll indulge us as we pat ourselves on the backs on a pretty big accomplishment for this little team that could.

(We are little: there are only seven full-time employees, with two or three freelancers in the mix!)

September 3, 2011, marks our first anniversary of national distribution for Growing Bolder TV.

We’re not celebrating with cake this year, although we definitely think the achievement is worthy of a party. Instead, we’re hard at work getting ready for Season 3 of our show, which will debut on your local public stations in January 2012.

The show itself is older than one year — we debuted on a few local stations in Orlando and Tampa first, with hopes and dreams of someday becoming a national hit. Even with our highest expectations, though, we never thought this would happen:

According to our latest reports, we’re carried by 92% of public TV stations, running on 100% of the stations in the Top 25 markets (including New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Boston and Washington, DC) and have aired more than 33,000 times in the last 12 months.

That’s a lot of inspiration and motivation, huh?

We started with an idea (and, conveniently, shot video of our very first brainstorming meeting!):

and while we’ve certainly changed a few things (new graphics, new open, new contributors like Wendy Chioji and Rowdy Gaines), the core is still the same.

We believe in ordinary people living extraordinary lives. We believe that pursuing passions, living dreams and trying each and every day to be a better citizen — that’s Growing Bolder. We believe in overcoming obstacles, and using every experience as a lesson.

And we believe that Growing Bolder — not us, not our company, but the mission — is one of the most important things America can embrace.

We hope you agree, and if you do, here’s how you can help:

It’s a time for celebration, and being a small company in trying economic times has presented its own challenges. We have never wavered, and never will, from our goals. With your help, your belief and your continued passion for all things Growing Bolder, we’ll be celebrating anniversaries for many years to come.
Thank you, from the bottom of our hearts.
